As a PolicyWorks partner, Lon Anderson provides strategic counsel for clients in the areas of government procurement, grassroots advocacy and government affairs.
Lon has spent the past 24 years in politics and government. Most recently, Lon served as the Chief Deputy Director of the Department of Administrative Services (DAS). In this capacity, Lon served as chief financial officer for the department and was a leader in the effort to achieve Governor Terry Branstad's goal of reducing the cost of state government by at least 15 percent. In addition, Lon worked as a staff assistant for Congressman Fred Grandy, was a field staffer for the presidential campaign of Senator Lamar Alexander, and was the lead staffer for the House Appropriations Committee for the Iowa House Republicans. In his role as an Appropriations staffer, Lon was responsible for helping craft a balanced budget as required by the state's constitution.
Lon received a BA degree in Business Administration from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, IA, with a minor in political science.
