Leaders of the government affairs firm PolicyWorks are no strangers to achieving the unexpected. In fact, the lobbying and public affairs professionals specialize at turning the tide of public opinion. This year, the firm is celebrating its own bucked trend. Although many small companies close up shop before they ever reach their 10th year, PolicyWorks is celebrating a decade in business. The firm’s executives say they are proud of the causes and organizations they have helped advance over that time and are energized by future opportunities. The firm’s senior vice president, John Cacciatore, is not surprised by the demand the firm has experienced, particularly among healthcare, law enforcement, energy, technology and financial associations. With more than 25 years as a leader in public policy and political campaigns, he has enjoyed a front-row seat for the evolution and growth of the government affairs discipline.
Reflecting on the difference between today’s environment and that of a decade ago, Cacciatore said: “An expanding array of diverse viewpoints, coupled with an abundance of communication channels and massive content marketing campaigns, makes it more challenging than ever for our partners to be heard by decision makers. That’s where PolicyWorks comes in. Advancing our clients’ public policy interests is not only a passion, it’s a core strength supported by an expert understanding of what it takes to gain attention and change minds.”
Formed by the Iowa Credit Union League in 2006, PolicyWorks has become a leader in lobbying, public affairs and grassroots expertise. Now, with bi-partisan lobbyists and public affairs professionals, and a growing client base, the firm provides a wide range of services – all in the name of helping organizations achieve their public policy objectives. “Our initial vision ten years ago was to be a one-stop advocacy shop for organizations needing help advancing their public policy interests. We have been fortunate to work with many non-profits and businesses over the years on policy matters that have improved lives and opportunities for Iowans,” said CEO, Justin Hupfer.
