John Cacciatore, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs for PolicyWorks, was recognized as a Honorary Pioneer Lawmaker of Iowa at the state Capitol on April 5. The Pioneer Lawmakers’ Association of Iowa was organized in 1886 to preserve the history of Iowa and the men and women who have served the state, and recognize people with 20 years or more of service. Combined with his work at PolicyWorks, John’s service as a public employee for former Governor Tom Vilsack and other prominent state legislators earned him this prestigious recognition.
John has spent the last 25 years as a leader in public policy and political campaigns. He has worked in the political trenches, developed and implemented public policy and provided strategic counsel to policymakers in both state and federal government. Prior to joining PolicyWorks, John served as the Director of the State of Iowa’s Federal Relations Office in Washington, D.C. for then Governor Tom Vilsack. Other notable positions include Chief of Staff, Policy Director and Campaign Manager for Gov. Vilsack, the top aide for then-Iowa Senate Presidents Leonard Boswell and Mike Gronstal, Finance Director for the Iowa Democratic Party, and door-to-door canvass manager for Tom Harkin’s initial campaign for the U.S. Senate.
