Solar Day at the Fair
The PolicyWorks team helped organize and coordinate Solar Day at the Iowa State Fair for its client, the Iowa Solar Trade Association (ISETA). Knowing that the fair is the state's biggest event of the year, the PW team decided that this would be a great time to not only educate interested Iowans about the benefits of solar energy, but also celebrate the power of the sun and its impact.
To prepare for the event, PolicyWorks set-up a volunteer program, where volunteers from various environmental groups and solar companies graciously offered to volunteer their time for the day.
Combining our volunteer program and a robust social media campaign prior to the event, PW staffers got in touch with the media to announce this event and also invited Governor Kim Reynolds to attend.
On the day of the event, hundreds of Iowans visited the solar booth and scoped out the solar panels attached to the tent. Governor Kim Reynolds also attended and made history by signing a proclamation that declared August 9th as Solar Day in Iowa. It was a successful day for solar energy in Iowa.
