Powering Waukee Through Solar Energy

IMG_0310.JPG

The PolicyWorks team worked with The Nature Conservancy on the launch and implementation of the “Solarize Waukee” program in Waukee, IA. The program’s goal was to educate the public on the economic benefits of going solar, and to help homeowners and businesses navigate the process and realize savings through group purchasing power.

With an integrated plan of community outreach, media relations and social media promotion, the program was a large success. More than 250 Waukee area residents and homeowners attended in-person education events, and invested nearly $750,000 in solar projects over the course of six months. The projects included 29 local households, three area businesses (Adel Vet Clinic, Willis Auto, Banning Chiropractic), and one church (Urbandale United Church of Christ).

The PolicyWorks team also helped earn numerous media stories for the program through print, TV and radio coverage.
